When Sam finds her, Kristina complains that she always has to be perfect, but their mother does whatever she wants. She tells Sam to leave her alone and walks away. In fact, she thinks that their mom is responsible for Claudia's accident. Kristina says that their mother is the person who should be getting this talk, because she has been covering her affair with the mayor. She tells Kristina that she experienced a lot of chaotic feelings and let herself get into a situation when she didn't do the right thing. Sam recalls the hard time she had when she was breaking up with Jason. Sam digs a little bit and says that boy troubles can make you act out of character (i.e. She tells Sam that Kiefer was with another girl, but he said it wasn't a big deal, so they're fine. She apologizes for suspecting Kristina of being responsible for the accident. She stomps out onto the veranda, and Sam follows her. But when Sam witnessed how upset Kristina was, it was because she'd had a fight with Kiefer, not because she caused the crash. Kristina admits to Sam that she was, in fact, driving the night of Claudia's accident. Are you going to let Michael take the blame for something you probably did?
When they receive word that Michael has confessed, Kristina jumps out at her mother. Alexis kicks herself for having asked Sam to do that because now things have changed: she could actually be a suspect in the accident thanks to the Mayor's crazy wife. In the meantime, Sam informs Alexis that she has destroyed the surveillance videos from that night. Jason is forced to watch Michael get carted off to a cell. Unfortunately, even wonder-woman Diane can't talk her way out of this one.
